Fatal accident may have been caused by drinking and driving

A man recently lost his life in a tragic motor vehicle accident in the state of Georgia, leaving surviving family members questioning how the accident could have happened. The fatal accident took place early in the morning on a Saturday. The driver of the car in which the deceased man was riding is thought to have caused the accident due to drinking and driving.

According to police, at around 1:30 a.m. on a Saturday, a car driven by a 29-year-old man was going east on a road. The car reportedly left the roadway, and the driver overcorrected. The car ended up striking a tree, overturning and landing in a ditch.

The passenger in the back seat, a 22-year-old man, died at the crash scene. Meanwhile, the passenger in the front seat of the car, a 26-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital by helicopter. In addition, the driver was transported to a medical center by helicopter after suffering severe injuries. Police said that charges against the driver were pending their completing their investigation.

The family members of the man who died in the fatal accident in Georgia may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver who police said caused the accident. If the driver is charged with DUI and eventually convicted on the charge, proof of the conviction may be presented in an effort to establish liability in a related civil court proceeding. Once liability has been established, the civil court will determine claims for monetary damages.
