A car accident can happen to nearly anyone at any moment without warning. Most Georgia motorists know that driving comes with possible dangers. They also understand their responsibilities while on the road. Unfortunately, a seemingly unthinkable car accident may still happen, no matter how careful and prepared a driver may be.
According to Georgia State Patrol, a 64-year-old man was recently driving westbound in a Chevy Silverado when he veered across the center median and into oncoming traffic. The man then came face-to-face with a Nissan Altima. The driver of the Altima was not able to react fast enough to avoid colliding with the Silverado.
It was fortunate that there were no fatalities because of this crash. However, there were injuries to the occupants of both vehicles. The driver of the Silverado was injured and was transported to one hospital while the 34- year-old driver of the Altima and her passenger were transported to another hospital. There is no report regarding the nature of the injuries suffered by the two drivers and the passenger or of any of their current conditions. No reports of road or weather conditions or any other contributing factors have been released yet.
While the Georgia State Patrol continues its investigation into this car accident, they will need to determine the cause for the changing of lanes into opposing traffic on the part of the driver of the Silverado. In the meantime, the driver of the Altima and her passenger may file personal injury claims against the driver of the Silverado for damages including any possible out-of-pocket medical expenses or loss of wages during their recuperation from the injuries they each suffered. If negligence is proven, the court may consider an award of those and other damages allowed under our state laws.
