Georgia car accident kills 1 and injures 2

Many Georgia motorists are aware of the potential dangers that many drivers face every day. Even so, most drivers are never prepared for the possibility of being in a car accident. For one unfortunate husband and wife traveling near Irwinville, that possibility became a reality. Both suffered injuries in a head-on collision that also killed the driver of the other vehicle.

According to the Ben Hill County Sheriff Department's report, a 53-year-old man was driving his minivan on Highway 125 a few miles north of Irwinville when, for reasons unknown, his minivan swerved and crossed the center median into oncoming traffic. The minivan slammed head-on into a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the minivan was killed. The pickup truck's 35-year-old driver and his wife were injured.

The husband suffered injuries serious enough to be flown via helicopter to a hospital. He is reportedly in critical condition. This driver's wife also suffered injuries and transported to a local hospital where she is recovering from her injuries at last report. The driver of a third vehicle that his the minivan after the initial impact did not suffer any injuries in that crash.

The Georgia State Patrol is conducting the investigation into this fatal car accident. Due to the death of the driver deemed responsible for the injuries and damages sustained in this car accident, the injured husband and wife may file personal injury claims against the estate of the deceased driver seeking to recover damages they sustained because of the crash. Damages they may be awarded include, but are not limited to, medical costs, lost wages and pain and suffering.
