Georgia roadways can be a dangerous place when there is a driver who is not paying attention to his or her driving. Recently, a fatal accident on Georgia 22 happened when a pickup truck pulling a trailer veered into the path of a tractor-trailer. The trailer being towed by the pickup truck went airborne at the time of the crash and landed on another car on the roadway.
The accident occurred around just before noon in mid-March. The pickup truck was traveling westbound and the tractor-trailer was headed eastbound when the collision took place, according to a Georgia State Trooper who was working at the scene. It is unknown at this time what caused the driver of the pickup truck to veer into the oncoming traffic, and the accident is still under investigation.
The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to the Baldwin County Coroner. Three others were also injured in the accident. All three were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
In Georgia accidents in which someone is killed or injured, an injured person or the family of a person killed in a fatal accident may seek legal recourse with the courts. Sometimes, a civil court will award a monetary settlement to help with medical bills and, in the case of a fatality, final expenses, along with compensation for related damages. An attorney who is experienced in personal injury and wrongful death cases regarding vehicle accidents can represent an injured victim or a victim’s family in a suit against a person who is believed to be negligently responsible for an accident.
