Sometimes victims of a car crash are not even on the road or in a vehicle. A fatal accident can happen anywhere. On Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, a 41-year-old Jonesboro man was killed in a fatal accident when the driver apparently lost control of his vehicle on a local Georgia roadway.

The car then crashed into Mikael’s Car Wash.  A 41-year-old man inside the car was was hit by the car and seriously injured. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to a local law enforcement spokesperson, the driver was arrested at a nearby apartment complex. He was charged with felony hit and run and first degree vehicular homicide for his role in the accident. There was no other information available about the driver’s condition at the time of the accident. In a photo supplied by the police department, the vehicle can be seen inside the office of the car wash where the 41-year-old man was struck.

Many times, a fatal accident is caused by a negligent driver, and all too often that same driver is found to have been impaired by drugs and/or alcohol. The specific details of this tragedy may have to wait further investigation. Nevertheless, the surviving family of the deceased victim is entitled to pursue a civil lawsuit in Georgia, seeking financial accountability for all monetary damages sustained. This can be helpful in paying final expenses, including funeral and burial costs, and also addressing other financial losses occasioned by the senseless tragedy.
