Sometimes, it is not easily discernible how an accident occurred. In those cases, it could take Georgia law enforcement officials longer than normal to piece together the details and determine who was at fault. This could be the case in a recent truck vs. car accident that ended the lives of three people.
The recent fatal crash that occurred here in Georgia is still under investigation. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident took place around 1 p.m. on a recent afternoon. A family of three was reportedly traveling when their vehicle was hit by a semi-truck at some point. While the details of the accident are still unclear, the crash took the lives of two adults in the car.
The victims’ 20-month-old infant girl was also in the vehicle at the time. The baby girl was flown by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of hospital staff, the little girl succumbed to her injuries as a result of the accident. The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to an area hospital. The extent of the driver’s injuries and current condition were not available at the time of this report.
It might be some time before the Georgia State Patrol can gather all of the details needed in this horrible car accident before they can make a final determination as to its cause. If it is discovered that the driver of the tractor-trailer is found to be at fault, then the driver and the company that the driver was working for at the time of the incident may be held liable for the deaths of the victims. The family of the deceased victims may then file a wrongful death claim to help defray the financial burden created by the death of their loved ones.
