A beloved woman and nanny to many in Glynn County was more than a fixture in the community; for some, she was well loved and like a second mother. The 51-year-old woman was killed recently in a fatal accident. The woman’s caring nature will be remembered for years to come in the Georgia community in which she lived.
This woman’s life was cut short when a 19-year-old driver slammed into the rear of the car in which she and her husband were riding. The young driver was behind the wheel of a Dodge Dakota pickup truck and came from behind the couple in the turn lane when the accident occurred. The woman suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Her husband was transported to an area hospital to be treated for the injuries that he suffered in the collision.
Her husband is currently listed in critical condition. The young driver of the pickup truck was also taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Georgia State Patrol has requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to help in this investigation. With help from the Collision Reconstruction Team, authorities may be able to answer the question of why this accident occurred.
For the husband and his community, it may be some time before they can move forward from their grieving. Although the crash is still under investigation, no charges have yet been filed. If authorities determine that the driver of the pickup truck was at fault, any evidence gathered may be used as evidence in a wrongful death claim for the death of his wife as well as a personal injury claim for injuries the husband suffered. Any award may serve to lessen the financial burdens brought upon this man due to this fatal accident.
