Depending on the outcome of the investigation into this fatal accident, in addition to if the driver of the tractor-trailer is ever located, the individual thought to be responsible may have to respond to a civil lawsuit. The surviving family of the deceased pedestrian retains the right to pursue legal action and file a wrongful death claim on behalf of the deceased to seek recovery of monetary damages. The family could receive some form of financial relief through the civil court system in Georgia if evidence documents that the driver’s negligent actions indeed caused the deadly wreck.
