Steve has lived in Dalton, Georgia since 1977 when he became an Assistant District Attorney for the Conasauga Judicial Circuit. In 1979 he was appointed the District Attorney by then Governor George Busbee. He was re-elected to that position in 1980 and served as the District Attorney until 1985 when he left office and joined the firm to begin his private practice.
Steve specializes in criminal defense, personal injury, wrongful death and is the City attorney for Chatsworth, Georgia. Steve has tried over 300 jury trials to verdict in both civil and criminal courts as lead counsel and is admitted to practice in all state courts of Georgia as well as in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
In 2006 Steve was appointed by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia to serve on the U.S. Magistrate Appointment and Reappointment Review Committee and remains a member of that committee to this day. Additionally, Steve is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia.
Steve has been very active in local community and charitable affairs and was elected to the City of Dalton Board of Education in 2002. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Education since 2004.
Steve obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, cum laude, in accounting in 1973 from the University of Georgia and then later received his law degree from the University of Georgia in 1976.
