What is the law about cell phone use while driving?

With the increased use of cell phones has come an increase in auto accidents related to cell phone use while behind the wheel. As the main cause for distracted driving, cell phone use takes your focus off the road, making it much easier to make driving mistakes and reducing your reaction time. To combat this Georgia passes laws on when and how you may use your cell phone when driving. According to USA Today, as of 2018, you can no longer hold your cell phone when you are behind the wheel.

Assumptions you should not make about truck blind spots

Understanding what a truck driver is likely to see on a Georgia highway is crucial to keeping yourself safe. You might make assumptions about what the trucker sees that could be incorrect. If you should swerve into the truck’s blind spot, the truck driver may not see you and could collide with your vehicle.

What is whiplash?

It can happen without any warning: you are driving along Georgia roadways, you stop at an intersection or railway crossing, and all of a sudden you feel a jolt from behind as another vehicle crashes into yours. You may feel fine initially after the accident, but within 24 hours (sometimes longer) you may develop symptoms of neck stiffness and pain, shoulder tenderness or headaches that may indicate a case of whiplash.

Drunk driver leads police on chase, one dies

Residents in Georgia have good reason to be frustrated by the ongoing problems related to drunk driving. Despite decades of active campaigns that raise awareness and educate people about the dangers of driving after consuming alcohol or using drugs, too many people continue to do just that. As a result, too many innocent people are injured or killed in the accidents that often ensue. This then leaves their friends and family members mourning a loss that was completely preventable.

Construction, confused drivers present dangers in work zones

These days, it is all but impossible to travel Georgia’s roads without encountering road construction and work zones, but for some motorists, making their way through these areas can prove difficult and dangerous. At McCamy, Phillips, Tuggle & Fordham, LLP, we recognize just how frequently work zones are a factor in car crashes, and we have assisted many clients who suffered injury after accidents that occurred in these areas.
