A woman’s life was recently snatched away in a motor vehicle accident in Georgia. The car accident, which was apparently a hit-and-run crash, occurred on a Wednesday night. A man has been arrested and taken into custody in connection with the collision.
The car accident happened at a little before 8 p.m. at a street intersection and involved seven people in five cars. Following the crash, the woman was taken to the hospital, where was pronounced deceased. She was 42 years old.
The woman, who worked as a nurse, was on her way home from a meeting when the accident happened. The man who allegedly caused the accident and tried to flee ended up being caught and now faces several charges, including attempting to evade police, vehicular homicide and reckless driving. Other charges filed against this driver include probation violation and drug possession.
The family of the woman who died in the Georgia car accident may decide to file a wrongful death claim against the man whom police arrested, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. If the man ends up being convicted on his charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in an effort to establish liability before the civil court hearing the case. Only if liability is established, based upon a showing of negligence, will claims for monetary damages be decided. A monetary damage award cannot undo the events leading up to the accident, but it may help the deceased victim’s surviving loved ones to experience a sense of justice in light of the collision.
