A recent motor vehicle crash in Georgia sadly claimed a woman’s life. In addition, the man who was driving the car carrying the victim ended up being arrested following the crash. The car accident occurred along Interstate 575 on a Saturday morning.

Police said they responded to the collision at about 7:26 a.m. According to authorities, the car carrying the man and woman was headed south on the interstate before the accident happened. The female passenger, 33, ended up being pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

Police said the male driver, 37, attempted to leave the crash scene on foot, but officers were able to take him into custody. The man was later taken to the hospital for treatment of a broken leg. He now faces several charges, including both first- and second-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, driving too quickly for road conditions and weaving on the road.

The surviving loved ones of the woman who lost her life in the tragic Georgia car accident may decide to file a wrongful death claim against the male driver, seeking the reimbursement of damages sustained in the wreck. If the man is convicted on his many charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court in an effort to establish liability in the car accident. In a case that is fought successfully, monetary damages — if awarded — may help the family to address funeral costs, the loss of income for surviving dependents or even the loss of companionship stemming from the motor vehicle accident.
