A motor vehicle crash involving a semi-truck recently claimed the life of a man in Georgia. The fatal accident occurred along Interstate 75 on a Tuesday. The man who lost his life was 24 years old.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. According to police, the semi-truck rear-ended an automobile near Georgia 20. The 24-year-old man, who was in the car, passed away due to several injuries caused by blunt force trauma.

The crash ended up blocking the northbound lanes of I-75 for about two hours. It was the second fatal crash to have occurred in the same area in a week’s time. In the prior accident, a 20-year-old man lost his life after the driver of the car in which he was riding went through a stop sign.

In the semi-truck accident, if a police investigation reveals that the truck driver was at fault in the motor vehicle collision, the surviving family members of the man who died may opt to file a wrongful death claim, seeking damages. The lawsuit may be filed against the driver as well as against the driver’s employer. A preponderance of the evidence is necessary to establish liability before the civil court hearing the case, based upon a showing of negligence. Monetary compensation in such a case cannot undo the events leading to the death of a loved one, but it may help to address the financial losses attributed to the fatal accident. A monetary award may also help to address pain and suffering as well as emotional distress caused by the tragic ordeal.
