Car accident claims 2 lives, causes 1 injury

A fatal crash recently took place in Georgia. The car accident involved two vehicles. It occurred on a Saturday evening.

According to police, a 70-year-old woman and a 68-year-old woman were the two individuals killed in the crash. The two were in separate vehicles. Both were pronounced deceased at the crash scene along Georgia 125.

Police said the 70-year-old woman was driving a pickup truck south on the highway, while the 68-year-old woman was going north in a car. At around 6 p.m., the pickup truck allegedly breached the road's middle line and ended up in the northbound lane. That is when the truck hit the car's front end. Although both drivers died, a juvenile who was riding in the truck survived and was transported to the hospital with lower-extremity injuries. Police reported that the pickup truck's headlights were not on at the time of the crash, which might have been a causal factor in the wreck.

The surviving loved ones of the car driver may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the estate of the driver of the pickup truck, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Competent proof of negligence is necessary to establish liability in this type of car accident case in the state of Georgia. Only then will claims for damages be adjudicated. Monetary damages in a successfully litigated case may help to cover burial costs, the loss of support and other expenses tied to the deadly crash. Damages might also help to address emotional distress and pain and suffering resulting from the accident.
