1 dies, 1 injured in Georgia car accident

A fatal crash recently took place in Georgia. The deadly car accident occurred along Interstate 75. It involved two vehicles.

The wreck occurred at about 4 a.m. According to authorities, a car driven by a man, 43, ended up flipping multiple times on the highway. The man was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the accident scene.

Police said witnesses told them that the man had lost control of his car, and when he attempted to regain control, he crashed into the back of another car. The other car landed in a nearby ditch. Its driver, 28, was transported to the hospital.

If police in their investigation discover that the driver of the first car caused the car accident due to negligent driving -- for example, driving too fast for road conditions or driving while distracted -- then the injured driver of the second car may choose to file a personal injury claim, seeking damages. Even though the driver of the first car died in the Georgia crash, his estate may still be sued, and so may any other persons with an ownership interest in the vehicle he was operating at the time of the collision. Once liability has been established, based upon competent proof of negligence, claims for damages will be decided. A damage award may be helpful for covering hospital costs, the loss of wages and other expenses tied to the accident, in addition to addressing pain and suffering as well as emotional distress caused by the crash.
