A two-car vehicle accident recently claimed one life and caused injuries to another person in Georgia. The car accident occurred along Interstate 85. It took place on a recent Monday morning.
The wreck occurred at a little before 4:45 a.m. along Interstate 85 northbound. Police said a 48-year-old man was driving south in the lanes going north. His vehicle then entered the highway’s median and started to back up.
A 22-year-old man who was driving another car reportedly hit the vehicle that was backing up in the median, striking it on the driver’s side. The younger man suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital as investigators responded to the accident scene. Meanwhile, the older man ended up dying in the collision. He was a quarterback who had set records during his time of playing college football and was a former finalist for the Heisman Trophy. Police reported they did not know why he was driving the wrong way on the highway.
The man who was injured in the car accident may opt to file a personal injury claim in this case, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Competent proof of negligence on the part of the man who was driving the wrong direction on the interstate is necessary to establish liability. Even though the alleged wrong-way driver passed away in the collision, his estate may still be sued, and any separate owner of the car he was driving at the time of the accident may face litigation. A monetary award may help the injured party to cover his hospital expenses, the loss of wages and other expenses stemming from the Georgia collision.
