A hit-and-run crash recently occurred in Georgia, leading to injuries to one person. The car accident took place at the corner of two streets north of a downtown area. It happened at a little before 7 p.m. on a Tuesday.
According to police, a car with four teenagers was speeding as it went through a yellow light. The car then reportedly struck another car while it was trying to turn into a fueling station. Witnesses stated they saw somebody leave the vehicle and then run following the crash.
All of the teenagers did end up returning to the scene. However, police said they did not know which one was driving. None of the teens have their driver’s licenses. One victim in the accident was thrown from the vehicle in which she was riding and had to be taken to the hospital, where her condition was deemed stable. Police said as soon as they identified the driver, charges would be pending.
Once police determine who was driving the car, the injured victim may choose to file a personal injury claim against this person, seeking damages. A monetary damage award might help to cover hospital costs and other expenses tied to the Georgia hit-and-run car accident. Financial damages may also help to address pain and suffering as well as emotional distress caused by these types of accidents. However, claims for financial damages will not be determined unless and until financial responsibility is established to the satisfaction of the civil court. If the party who reportedly caused the accident is criminally charged in connection with the accident and is then convicted, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court in an attempt to establish liability in the crash.
