Wrong-way car accident leads to death, injury

A wrong-way accident recently snatched the life of one woman and sent a second person to a hospital. The Georgia car accident took place on a Sunday morning. Police said alcohol appeared to be a causal factor in the crash.

The vehicle crash occurred along Georgia 400 a little after 4 a.m. Police said they received calls about a car that was heading south in the northbound lanes. However, authorities could not get to the area in time. The woman, 21, who was going the wrong way on the highway ended up hitting a car that another woman, 27, was driving.

The wrong-way driver passed away at the accident scene. Meanwhile, the woman whose car was hit head on suffered injuries and had to be freed from her vehicle by fire fighters. She was transported to the hospital, where her condition was critical before being upgraded to serious. Neither vehicle contained passengers.

The woman who suffered injuries in the car accident has the right to file a personal injury lawsuit in a Georgia civil court, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages stemming from the crash. Even though the woman believed to have caused the crash died, her estate may still be sued, and any separate owner of the vehicle she was operating may be sued as well. A court will determine claims for damages if liability is adequately established by evidence of negligence. A successful personal injury claim might help to provide the victim with a much-needed financial recovery following such a devastating accident.
