A two-vehicle crash recently led to the death of a woman in Georgia. The car accident took place along Highway 133 on a Saturday night. Police said drinking and driving contributed to the fatal collision.
According to authorities, the wreck happened at about 8:30 p.m. and involved a Dodge Caravan and truck. A woman, 67 years old, was driving north on the highway in the van, along with a passenger. A woman driving a truck attempted to pass them but was unable to do so because of oncoming traffic.
The truck driver struck the van’s left side while attempting to get back into her lane. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch, and the van driver was thrown from her automobile as a result of the impact. She passed away at the crash scene. Meanwhile, her passenger was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be taken to a medical center for treatment after being extricated. The truck driver, a 25-year-old, was charged with driving under the influence and taken to jail.
The truck driver may not only face trouble in the Georgia criminal justice system but she also might face trouble in civil court in the form of liability claims. This is because the van passenger who was injured is entitled to file a personal injury claim against her. In addition, the loved ones of the deceased car accident victim might opt to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver, seeking the reimbursement of damages resulting from the fatal accident.
