The impact of two vehicles hitting head-on is often deadly due to the sheer force of the impact. Sadly, Georgia roadways are sometimes the scene of such accidents. A recent fatal car accident happened in Harris County on a recent Friday morning.
The Georgia State Patrol reported that both drivers were killed in the crash. There were no passengers in either vehicle. The collision is said to have occurred close to 8:30 a.m.
The authorities say that a 48-year-old driver of a Jeep crossed the center line on State Route 103. He veered into the path of an oncoming SUV. The other driver was a 45-year-old woman. Both were Georgia residents, and the accident remains under investigation.
When a two-car accident results in the deaths of both drivers, investigators often have to rely upon an accident reconstruction in order to determine exactly what occurred. Statements from any witnesses to the collision may also be helpful. If the preliminary findings from this accident are confirmed by further investigation, it would appear that the estate of the deceased woman will be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim in a Georgia civil court against the Jeep driver’s estate, as well as any other party with an ownership interest in the vehicle he was driving. The claim must be based upon evidence of negligence that is found to have caused the fatal car accident or substantially contributed to it.
