Fatal accident sends 9 to Georgia medical center

Fatal accidents happen much too often, and, on the interstates of the nation, the chances of survival are often less likely than on other roads. This is due to high speeds and the high volume of traffic that is often found on interstate highways. A recent fatal accident left several people injured and one dead on a Georgia interstate.

The fatal accident happened in early March in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Georgia. Two vehicles allegedly sideswiped each other, which knocked one of the vehicles into oncoming traffic. That vehicle hit yet another car, and it overturned. After that, other cars collided.

The wreck sent nine people to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, and one was pronounced dead at the scene. When first responders arrived on the scene, there were three people trapped in their vehicles who had to be freed. Three of the nine people who were taken to the medical center for treatment were listed in critical condition. It is unknown whether it was the same three that were trapped in their vehicles just after the wreck. The accident is still under investigation by Georgia law enforcement officials, and, at this time, the exact cause of the accident is still unknown.

In accidents in which people are injured or killed, victims and their families may have legal options. After law enforcement completes the investigation into an accident, that information may be used to file a civil suit against a driver whose negligent action caused injuries or deaths. When a personal injury suit or wrongful death suit, in the case of a fatal accident, is successful, a victim or a victim’s family may be awarded compensation for losses associated with the accident.
