Truck accident in Georgia sends at least one to hospital

In the morning hours in early February, there were two separate accidents on the Georgia section of Interstate 75 that involved semi trucks. The first truck accident occurred before dawn in the southbound lanes just north of the state line. It was reported that one semi truck traveling south hit another that was parked on the side of the road. A crane had to assist in clearing the wreckage.

The other accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. approximately 15 miles north of the first accident and in the northbound lanes. One of these trucks was carrying cooking oil. The oil spilled on the roadway and was covered with sand by the Georgia Department of Transportation to improve traction and prevent additional collisions due to a slick road surface. At least one person in this truck accident was airlifted to the hospital.

In a tractor-trailer accident, there is often a higher chance of injury due to the size and weight of the vehicle involved. If someone is found to have caused an accident that results in injuries due to a negligent act, the injured victim may want to consider filing a civil suit against the driver and/or the trucking company. Speaking with a legal professional who handles truck accidents can help a victim know his or her options.

A successfully presented personal injury suit can result in an injured victim being awarded compensation. This compensation typically covers current and future medical expenses and can include additional monies for other losses associated with the truck accident, such as pain and suffering or loss of consortium. An attorney who has experience with semi truck accidents in Georgia can answer questions victims have concerning their individual situations.
