Fatal accident in Georgia leaves one dead, one injured

On Feb. 6, 2015, a 67-year-old woman was trying to park at a restaurant when she lost control of the vehicle. Around 4:30 p.m., Georgia police were called to Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar in Kennesaw to investigate the fatal accident.  Apparently, the woman's white van jumped the curb when she was trying to park and crashed into the restaurant.

The Traffic Fatality Investigation Unit was on the scene to try to determine exactly what happened that led to the Friday afternoon accident. According to a Cobb County Police Department officer, the investigation is ongoing.  There were suggestions floating around the area that maybe a medical condition suffered by the van driver had caused her to inadvertently do something to cause the wreck, but that determination will come with further investigation.

The 67-year-old driver was not hurt, but unfortunately, two others were.  A 22-year-old employee of the restaurant was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.  A 19-year-old boy, who was a restaurant customer, died from injuries suffered in the accident.  One person at the scene attempted CPR on him, but sadly, he could not be saved.

When a loved one is the victim of a fatal accident in Georgia, family members are left to grieve.  Often, though, there are medical bills and final expenses that can put a financial burden on the family left behind. Surviving family members may benefit by consulting a person injury lawyer to discuss options. If the driver is found to have been negligent in causing the fatal accident, the deceased's family may pursue a civil suit against the driver. Similarly, the injured restaurant worker has a right to file a personal injury claim of her own, seeking financial redress for the injuries she suffered.
