People across the country like to enjoy a good workout. That may be anything from playing a game of tennis, playing basketball or even an evening run. Georgia residents may have recently heard about a jogger that was injured in a hit-and-run car accident that occurred recently.

According to the sherriff’s department where the accident occurred, an 18-year-old man was jogging somewhere around 7:15 p.m. While crossing an intersection, the young Golden Gloves boxer was struck by a Nissan Versa. Witness reports state that the suspect vehicle paused momentarily after the impact but then continued to speed away. The man suffered various injuries, including a broken jaw. Further details regarding his injuries or his current condition were not disclosed at the time of this report.

Unfortunately, the local authorities had little to go on. The family and friends of the victim decided to take matters into their own hands and help the track down the possible driver of the Nissan. According to reports, a call was made to a possible suspect who claimed to be sorry for the incident but refused to go to the police. The person was reported to have stated that the vehicle was being painted black in Atlanta. A deputy was dispatched to the address, and a 20-year-old male and a female believed to be involved in the accident were arrested.

While the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department continues its investigation into this hit-and-run car accident, the victim will need some time to heal from his injuries. Unfortunately, depending on the severity of his injuries, that recovery could take a significant amount of time, during which he will likely incur a large amount of medical bills and possibly lose income. He is within his rights to file a personal injury claim against the driver for damages, including any out-of-pocket medical expenses and any possible future medical needs, among other damages allowed under Georgia law.
