Georgia residents understand that a car accident could happen without warning of any kind at any moment. It is the responsibility of every driver to give the road his or her complete attention. When that does not happen, a serious or fatal car accident can occur.
For example, according to Georgia State Patrol, a teenage driver was reported to be driving west when she failed to stop at a posted stop sign. In doing so, she ran into a van carrying five people from a local church. It is not yet known why the 19-year-old woman did not stop.
Regardless of the reason, that action resulted in a crash that took the life of a 53-year-old passenger in the van. Another passenger was thrown from the van, and emergency personnel made the decision to transport that victim to an area hospital via helicopter. The van’s driver was injured as well and was transported to a local hospital. The conditions of these two victims are not known at this time. The other passengers and the driver of the westbound vehicle reportedly suffered only minor injuries.
The Georgia State Patrol is continuing their investigation into this deadly car accident. Although, no charges have been filed yet against the driver that apparently ran the stop sign, they are pending the outcome of the investigation. In the meantime, the family of the deceased victim may file a wrongful death claim against the teen driver (and any separate owner of the vehicle she was operating), while the seriously injured victims may file personal injury claims. Successful claims may result in an award for damages sustained by the parties in connection with the crash.
