Man dies in fatal motorcycle accident in Georgia

Motorcycles have as much right to Georgia roads as any other vehicles. Cars, larger passenger vehicles and semi-trucks must keep a vigilant look out for smaller vehicles like bicycles and motorcycles. A motorcycle accident can easily happen when people over look these smaller vehicles or claim that they never saw them in the first place.

It is not clear if this was what happened in a recent crash involving two vehicles in a car versus motorcycle accident. According to the Georgia State Patrol, a motorcycle was headed south on Bells Ferry Road. A northbound vehicle was headed toward the rider at the same time.

Authorities believe that the Kia Sorrento attempted to turn west on Bells Ferry Place into the path of the motorcycle. The 30-year-old motorcycle rider was unable to maneuver quickly enough to avoid a crash with the Kia. The motorcycle slammed into the right side of the vehicle.

The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital in Marietta. Unfortunately, the rider succumbed to his injuries before medical personnel even had a chance to treat him for those injuries. There was no word of whether the 63-year-old man driving the Kia suffered any injuries in the collision.

Regardless of what happens with the criminal investigation, the family may wish to file a wrongful death claim against the driver of the Kia in accordance with Georgia law. If the family is able to prove to the court's satisfaction that the driver of the Kia was negligent and that this negligence led to the death of the victim, the court may award damages to the family. Any financial restitution received could defray the financial burdens they are undoubtedly incurring because of this tragic motorcycle accident.
