Negligence is a factor in single-vehicle accident injuring 4

When a vehicle goes off the road and overturns, without any involvement from other vehicles, it's a fairly sure bet that the driver is the sole at-fault cause. This indicates also that there was at least negligence in the operation of the vehicle. With that said, it's reported that a single-vehicle accident occurred in Georgia at about 2:50 a.m. on Aug. 3 on Ammons Bridge Road near the intersection of Michael Etchison in Monroe.

The unidentified driver went off the road, according to the Georgia State Patrol. A 2010 Jeep Laredo was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway. The driver 'overcorrected' and the vehicle overturned across the highway, onto the north shoulder and continued to overturn before ending up on its roof, says a spokesman for the GSP. All four occupants, males ranging in age from 18 through 21, suffered personal injury and were hospitalized. Three of them were trapped in the vehicle, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.

Three occupants were taken to area hospitals and a fourth was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. None of the injuries or medical status of the injured persons is available at this time. The GSP says that its investigation continues in efforts to determine who was operating the vehicle. The determination of who may recover damages will be resolved when it's determined who was driving the vehicle.

Under the law of negligence in Georgia, each of the passengers suffering personal injury likely has a claim to recover damages against the driver. If the driver's policy doesn't sufficiently cover all of the injuries, then each passenger must look to his own auto policy coverage for underinsured motorists' coverage. Georgia drivers will be well-served by purchasing adequate underinsured motorists' coverage because this provision will kick in and compensate an injured victim for the balance not covered by the driver's policy. If a passenger has other family and household members who have underinsured motorists' coverage, these policies should be shown to person injury counsel right away to determine whether additional compensation is available.
