Motorists on the road should look out for one all potential obstacles in order to avoid a crash, which could cause injuries or even death. In case an accident does occur, all involved motorists should pull over to the side of the road and do what they can to lend assistance as well as speak to the authorities about what has happened. However, one truck driver apparently failed to do this after reportedly causing a fatal accident that left two people dead in Georgia.
The incident occurred on Interstate 75 one afternoon in mid-December. A car was driving in the right lane close to exit 293 when a tractor-trailer allegedly forced the car out of the lane. This caused the car to smash into a guard rail before then sailing into a pillar that was supporting an overhead sign. The car caught on fire immediately after the collision.
The driver of the car was a 29-year-old woman and her passenger was a 4-year-old girl. Both of them died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop after allegedly causing the accident. Therefore, authorities are still searching for any information on the truck, which has been described as a Peterbilt truck with a long nose that authorities suspect was made in the 1990s.
When the authorities in Georgia apprehend the driver of the truck, the estate of the decedents may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit in order to obtain reimbursement for their losses. Although this will not bring back the lost lives, the loved ones of the decedents may be able to use the funds to help pay for funeral expenses and any other costs related to the fatal accident. However, this will require careful investigation of the evidence discovered by authorities in order to formulate a strong legal argument to be presented in court.
