A man in Georgia was recently killed in a tragic car collision, leaving family members to grieve. According to police, another man involved in the car accident struck him and fled the scene. This man currently faces criminal charges.
The crash occurred at around 5:44 a.m. According to police, a man driving a car crashed into another motor vehicle at a street intersection. The car that was struck ended up flipping several times before coming to a stop in a ditch. The driver of this car survived, but the 26-year-old male passenger died at the accident scene.
After the collision, the man who reportedly hit the car that flipped tried to drive away. However, his car was not working, so he ran off by foot. After turning himself in to police, the man now faces a charge of vehicular homicide as well as a hit and run and failing to stop and provide aid. His other charge includes following another car too closely. He ended up being released from jail on a bond of more than $25,000.
The surviving loved ones of the passenger who died in the Georgia car accident may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the man who was arrested, seeking damages. If the man facing charges ends up being convicted, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court in an attempt to establish liability.
