A child recently passed away in a Georgia motor vehicle accident. Now, the child’s surviving family members are left to mourn and wonder how such an accident could have been prevented. Police announced that charges were pending following the fatal car accident.
The accident took place at around 8:30 p.m. According to authorities, a car was heading north along Georgia 1 and was attempting to negotiate a curve. At that time, a minivan was going south in the highway’s right lane. The car then reportedly left the roadway on the right side and breeched the highway’s center line.
Police reported that the car then spun counter clockwise before hitting the front part of the minivan. Afterward, the car allegedly flipped, and two passengers were thrown from it. A 33-year-old woman, a 7-year-old child and another child who was killed were all riding in the car. Meanwhile, a 45-year-old individual, 8-year-old child and 16-year-old teenager suffered injuries in the minivan and were transported to the hospital. Police continued to investigate the collision.
The surviving loved ones of the child who died in the Georgia car accident may opt to file a wrongful death claim in connection with the accident, seeking the reimbursement of damages. Likewise, the injured parties may choose to file injury claims. These suits may be filed against the driver whom police deem to have caused the accident. Competent proof of negligence is necessary to establish liability before the civil court hearing the case. Only then will claims for monetary damages be decided.
