A man who reportedly caused a recent truck accident in Georgia has been formally charged. The fatal tractor trailer accident caused the highway to be shut down to traffic for almost eight straight hours. The wreck occurred on Highway 316.

The accident involved three separate vehicles. It took place in the westbound lanes of the highway. However, a short while after the initial wreck, another wreck occurred on the opposite side of the highway in the eastbound lanes. This is what caused both sides of the highway to be shut down.

As for the actual accident, it reportedly began with a mower along the shoulder of the westbound lanes of the highway. The driver of a Dodge 3500 truck noticed that the mower was in the right lane and he was unable to pass him. For that reason, he slowed his vehicle down and eventually came to a stop. Behind him was a pickup truck, which slowed down in return. Unfortunately, the driver in the tractor trailer truck behind the pickup truck rear-ended him, causing his truck to rear-end the Dodge truck in front of him.

The 20-year-old man in the pickup truck was killed as a result of the impact from the crash. The driver of the pickup truck suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital for examination and treatment. It was not mentioned whether the driver of the tractor trailer was injured.

The suspect who has been charged is a 40-year-old man from Tennessee. He has been charged with second-degree homicide by a vehicle. He has also been cited with following too closely to the vehicle in front of him.

The driver of the tractor trailer, as well as the company that he was driving for at the time of the accident, could both be held responsible for this accident. They could be found liable for personal injury and wrongful death claims that may be brought against them after this fatal tractor trailer accident in Georgia. Collectible damages by the injured victim could include lost wages, medical expenses and pain and suffering while the family of the deceased victim may be able to recover similar damages, such as lost lifetime earning capacity, loss of consortium, funeral and burial costs and pain and suffering.
